Pyrénées-Orientales/Catalunya Nord, France

This Peak is considered the 'Olymp of Catalans'. It appears when the Pyrenees mountain range loses altitude. The Canigó is a giant that embraces the Roselló until the sea. This is a beautiful, legendary mountain, full of history and symbol of Catalonia.

We climbed this peak by one of its traditionals ways. The starting point was in Mariailles Refugee (1718 m.). Following the GR 10 ('Tour du Canigou'), we reached the Jasse de Cady and the Aragó Refugee. Then climbed the 'Porteille de Valmanya' until we found the famous 'xemeneia' (chimney), just before to put our food on the top (2784 m.)

The sights are amazing: from the highests peaks of Andorra untill Mediterranean Sea. I shared this views with my friends Patxi, Pele and Èlia (who appear on the right of the pano).
