Gamueta Forest
Linza, Val d'Ansó, Huesca, Aragón

August 30, 2007

This is considered one of the most important forests of the South Pyrenees because it is a refuge for animals and plants in danger of extinction. It is also the most important forest of old trees in Aragon, with beeches, firs and yews of more than 400 years.

In a short walk of about 5 km you pass from the depth of an old forest to prairies and grasslands, crossing places with such a suggestive names as Paso del Oso (Bear Pass), Fuente de los Clérigos (Clergyman Fountain) or Paso del Salto del Caballo (Horse Jump Pass). This panorama was taken in this last point, near the Linza refuge, starting point to climb Petretxema and Mesa de los Tres Reyes.
